Jackson Parish – Press Release

Daniel W. Newell, District Attorney in and for the Second Judicial District, issues the following press release regarding the session of criminal court held in November/December, 2020 and January/February, 2021:

TOSHA KNOX – Pled guilty, as charged, to 2 counts of Distribution of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance.  She was sentenced to seven years at hard labor and given credit for time served.  This sentence is to run concurrent with any other sentence she may be serving.  She was remanded to the Department of Corrections to continue serving her sentences.

TOVA DUFOUR – Pled guilty, as charged, to attempted possession of firearm by a convicted felon. She was sentenced to three years at hard labor and given credit for time served.  She was remanded to the Department of Corrections to continue serving her sentence. 

JOSHUA MURPHY – Pled guilty, as charged, to possession of firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to seven years at hard labor.  He was given credit for time served.  The sentence was not suspended and he was remanded to the Department of Corrections.  This sentence is to run concurrent with any other sentence he may be serving.

IRA Q. BROOKS – Pled guilty, as charged, to possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance classified in Schedule II, and to possession of a controlled dangerous substance classified in Schedule IV and to obstruction of justice.  He was sentenced to eighty months on possession with intent to distribute Schedule II, he was sentenced to sixty months on possession of a Schedule IV controlled dangerous substance, and he was sentenced to sixty months on obstruction of justice.  He was given credit for time served. The sentence was not suspended and is to run concurrent with each other. He was remanded to the Department of Corrections to continue serving his sentence. 

JAMAAL LATRON HOGGRO – Pled guilty to attempted possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  He was sentenced to two years at hard labor.  The sentence was suspended and he was placed on two years supervised probation, which shall become unsupervised once all money is paid. 

CHRISTOPHER SCOTT SMITH – Pled guilty as charged to possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance.  He was sentenced to two years at hard labor.  He was given credit for time served.  The sentence was not suspended and is to run concurrent with any other sentence. He was remanded to the Department of Corrections. 

JARAD COLE LEE RAMSEY – Pled guilty to cruelty to a juvenile.  He was sentenced to three years at hard labor.  He was given credit for time served.  The sentence was not suspended and he was remanded to the Department of Corrections.   

SEAN COCLASURE – Pled guilty to possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance.  He was sentenced to 18 months at hard labor.  The sentence was suspended and he was placed on 18 months supervised probation. He was also sentenced to pay $250 fine, $250 to the indigent defender board, and all cost of court.

DEKOTA BREWER – Pled guilty, as charged, to possession of Marijuana (Synthetic). He was sentenced to 310 days. He was given credit for time served.  

QUENTIN C BROOKS – Pled guilty to unauthorized entry of inhabited dwelling. Sentenced to 2 years HL/SU 2 years active supervised probation.

CHRISTOPHER BUCKLEY – Pled guilty to attempted possession of firearm by a convicted felon. Defendant was sentenced to 5 years HL with credit for time served.

MICHAEL EDMONDS – Pled guilty as charge to Possession of Schedule II CDS. Defendant was sentenced to 20 months HL with credit for time served.

HUEY P FOURD, III – Pled guilty as charged to failure to comply with provisions of supervised release. Sentenced to time served since September 5, 2019.

MELANIE MURPHY = Pled guilty as charged to Possession of Schedule II CDS.  Sentenced to time served since August 7, 2020.
